How Much Does Your Office Charge for A DUI Defense?
It is possible that you may be eligible to receive a “Special Operator’s Permit to Drive to Work.”
These Permits are obtainable from the CT DMV. If you have had a prior DUI suspension then you may not be eligible. These work permits may grant you permission to drive for a very limited purpose and duration. If granted, you must be careful to never drive outside of the scope of the work permit or you will face additional charges if caught violating the terms of the permit. As your lawyer I will do whatever possible to help you obtain a permit immediately.
If you refuse to submit to a breathalyzer test you will have your license suspended for a longer period of time than if you had failed the test at a high BAC level.
As indicated in the charts above you will have your licenses suspended for 6 months to 3 years depending on how many past convictions you have for DUI.
As you can probably imagine the penalties for a DUI or much more significant if you are under the age of 21. For persons under the age of 21 a failed BAC test is any reading of .02 or higher.
As indicated in the charts above you will have your licenses suspended for 90 days to 2 years depending on how many past convictions you have for DUI.
In some circumstances you may avoid a DUI conviction if you are awarded and complete the AEP Program. To be eligible you must have never been convicted of a DUI in Connecticut or any other State and never used the AEP program within the past 10 years.
Upon successful completion of the AEP Program your case will be dismissed. On the other hand, a failure to complete the Program for any reason jeopardizes your case and you will face all penalties, fines and possible jail time.
